Summary: Investing in the fruit of gentleness.

Step 1

Read Galatians 5:22-23:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

Are you ready to make an investment in the Fruit of Gentleness?

Step 2

During a typical day, how frequently do you feel like you are walking step-by-step, in faith, with God?

Step 3

Read Genesis 5:24:

"Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away."

Select 'Successful' when you are finished.

Step 4

Describe what it means to you to 'walk with God'. Be specific.

Write your answer in the space provided.

Step 5

Go to 'DOCUMENTS' and read Oswald Chambers comments on Genesis 5:24.

Select 'Successful' when you are finished.

Step 6

Oswald states:

"The true test of a person’s spiritual life and character is not what he does in the extraordinary moments of life, but what he does during the ordinary times when there is nothing tremendous or exciting happening."

Do you agree?

Step 7

Oswald goes on to observe:

"It is difficult to get into stride with God, because as soon as we start walking with Him we find that His pace has surpassed us before we have even taken three steps. He has different ways of doing things, and we have to be trained and disciplined in His ways."

What strange or trying circumstances is God currently using to discipline you?

Write your answer in the space provided.

Step 8

Oswald continues:

"It is God’s Spirit that changes the atmosphere of our way of looking at things, and then things begin to be possible which before were impossible."

How often do you find yourself trying to understand what God is doing through your own intellectual understanding rather than through seeking the 'standpoint of your Father' through His Spirit in prayer?

Step 9

Pray

Take time now to bring the issues you identified in Step 7 before God.

In whatever way you feel comfortable, talk to Him and ask Him to reveal to you His standpoint on what you are experiencing?

You can write down what you receive in the space provided.

Step 10

Regarding the veracity in which you have been seeking God's standpoint, is there anything you would like to repent of?

If so, you can do so privately or in the space provided.

Step 11

Oswald concludes:

"Getting into God’s stride means nothing less than oneness with Him. It takes a long time to get there, but keep at it. Don’t give up because the pain is intense right now— get on with it, and before long you will find that you have a new vision and a new purpose."

Ask God to reveal to you the specific action you can take to get in stride with Him.

Write down what you receive in the space provided.

Step 12

How much has this Trail increased you level of belief in God's gentleness?
