Please, Ask For Help!: Isaiah 30:19 (Goodness)

Read Galatians 5:22-23:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

Are you ready to make an investment in the Fruit of Goodness?

If your closest friend or family member didn't trust you enough to ask for your help when they really needed it, how disappointed would you be?

How important do you imagine it is to God, your Father, that you feel comfortable enough to come to Him for help when you need it?

Read the following Bible verses:

'O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. He will be gracious if you ask for help. He will surely respond to the sound of your cries' (Isaiah 30:19).

'Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you' (Matthew 7:7).

'And I will destroy those who used to worship me but now no longer do. They no longer ask for the LORD's guidance or seek my blessings' (Zephaniah 1:6).

'God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs' (Matthew 5:3).

'The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit' (Psalms 34:17-18).

Read Luke 18: 1-8:

'One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”

Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”'

Compared to the widow in the parable, how persistent have you been in coming to God for help?

Given what you just read, how confident are you that you asked the Lord for what you wanted as a 'pauper in spirit', with no end (self interest) in view?

If you did not answer 'Confident', don't worry. It takes constant practice and self discipline to reach the reality of your spiritual poverty; to ask God for what you want with no ulterior motives.

Are you willing to continue to schedule this task until your prayers have been answered? Like the persistent widow, as you 'knock and keep knocking' you will be establishing yourself as a pauper in spirit, increasing your faith in God's goodness and bringing Him great pleasure as well!

If you are still skeptical, consider this: you have everything to gain and nothing to lose!
