Summary: Investing in the fruit of goodness.

Step 1

Read Galatians 5:22-23:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

Are you ready to make an investment in the Fruit of Goodness?

Step 2

This Trail follows the ancient prayer technique known as 'Lectio Divina' (Latin for "Divine Reading"). Lectio Divina is a traditional Benedictine practice of scriptural reading, meditation and prayer intended to promote communion with God and to increase the knowledge of God's Word. It does not treat Scripture as texts to be studied, but as the Living Word.

For this Trail, we will be doing a divine reading of Hebrews 13:5-6. Now, are you interested in joining many of the ancient Christians in this method of prayer?

Step 3

READ Hebrews 13:5-6:

'Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,

“I will never fail you.
I will never abandon you.”
So we can say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?”

Select 'Successful' when you are finished.

Step 4

MEDITATE on Hebrews 13:5-6: reflect on it's meaning in the context of the love of God.

'Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,

“I will never fail you.
I will never abandon you.”
So we can say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?”

Stay with it and allow it to penetrate. Select 'Successful' when you are finished.

Step 5

PRAY: ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the application of this verse in your present circumstances.

Write down any revelation(s) you receive.

Step 6

CONTEMPLATE: take time to think about how your life would be different if you believed with absolute certainty that:

a) God, your Father, would never, ever fail you.
b) That He would never, ever abandon you.
c) That He was your personal helper to the point that you are free to have NO fear whatsoever.
d) That you were so sure of the goodness and power of your Father in Heaven, that you had no concern of what other people thought of you or could do to you.

Select 'Successful' when you are finished contemplating.

Step 7

Write down a few ways your life would be different if you were living in the truth of Hebrews 13:5-6.

Step 8

Go to 'Documents' and read Oswald Chambers comments on Hebrew 13:5-6.

Select 'Successful' when you are finished.

Step 9

What are the lies the enemy has tried to use in your life to steal, kill or destroy your belief in God's word and goodness as expressed in Hebrews 13:5-6?

Step 10

Take time now to proclaim God's word in Hebrews 13:5-6 to rebuke those lies.

Consider using the phase 'For it is written.." as you rebuke the lies of the enemy.

You can do so verbally or use the space provided.

Step 11

How confident are you that, by doing Navitents like this Divine Reading, you can continue to promote your communion with God and increase your knowledge of God's Word?

Step 12

How much has this Trail increased the fruit of goodness in your current disposition?
